Mitchell Hartman
Senior reporter, entrepreneurship desk
Mitchell Hartman is a veteran Marketplace reporter and editor, and has been the entrepreneurship desk's senior reporter since June 2008. He's based at Oregon Public Broadcasting in Portland.
Hartman was an associate producer, interim morning host, commentary editor and features editor at Marketplace in Los Angeles from 1994 to 2001. In 2001 he left Marketplace to become editor of Oregon Business magazine in Portland. From 2005 to 2008 he was director of communications and editor of Reed College's alumni magazine.
Hartman has been a staff reporter covering business and economics at the Middletown Press and New Haven Register, and has appeared on the BBC, CBC, and the Pacifica Network. He has also worked in human rights and refugee advocacy. A native of New Jersey, he has a bachelor of arts degree from Swarthmore College and a master's degree in journalism from Columbia University.
