Austan Goolsbee is Professor of Economics at the University of Chicago, Graduate School of Business where he has been since 1995. He is also a research associate at the American Bar Foundation and the National Bureau of Economic Research and the American Bar Foundation. He is a member of the Advisory Committee to the United States Census. In 2004 he was an economic advisor to his Chicago colleague, Barack Obama. His research has covered tax policy, internet commerce, regulation, entrepreneurship and capital investment. Goolsbee received his B.A. and an M.A. at Yale University and his Ph.D. at M.I.T. In 2000 he was named one of the 100 Global Leaders for Tomorrow by the World Economic Forum in Switzerland. His writings have appeared in the New York Times, Slate, The Financial Times, Forbes, and many other publications.
