Clyde Prestowitz is founder and President of the Economic Strategy Institute, a Washington think-tank specializing in issues of globalization and competitiveness. Mr. Prestowitz previously served as Counselor to the Secretary of Commerce in the Reagan Administration. Before joining the Commerce Department, he was a senior executive with American Can Company and Scott Paper Company. He has served as Vice Chairman of the President's Commission on Trade and Investment in the Pacific, Vice Chairman of the Pacific Basin Economic Council (PBEC), and sits on the International Advisory Board of the American Management Association, and the Policy Advisory Board of Intel. He writes regularly for leading publications, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Foreign Affairs. He is the author of Rogue Nation, Trading Places, and Three Billion New Capitalists. Mr. Prestowitz earned a B.A. with honors from Swarthmore College; an M.A. from the University of Hawaii; and an M.B.A. from the Wharton Graduate School of Business.
