"The voices of women on financial issues in remarriage have been virtually neglected," according to Dr. Margorie Engel, president of the Stepfamily Association of America. Her research showed her that women who remarry experience financial insecurities almost exclusively related to ties to the first marriage. When Scott Oki was hired by Bill Gates in 1982, he created Microsoft's international operations and made it more profitable than their U.S. operations within two years. Ten years later, he took a $100-million early retirement from Microsoft and now spends his time on the golf course and at his non-profit Oki Foundation, which invests in high-tech startups. Oki is part of the new breed of entrepreneurs who are using their wealth to make a difference in the world.
