Residential Real Estate, with Elizabeth Razzi
Listen
October 7, 2000
Buying a home seems to be getting more complicated every day. In some parts

for available homes. And high prices are forcing some buyers to wonder if homeownership
is worth the expense. Elizabeth Razzi keeps her eye on residential real estate
for Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine, and she'll join Chris Farrell
to take calls on this edition of Sound Money.

529 Plans, with Joseph Hurley
Listen
October 21, 2000
Paying for college has recently become less onerous, thanks to the Federal government's
Education IRA and especially the new state-sponsored 529 plans, which allow
money to grow tax-deferred until used for college expenses. While Education

in their limits. Even if your state doesn't sponsor one, you may be able to
set one up elsewhere. Joseph Hurley, CPA, is the author of The Best Way to
Save for College: A Complete Guide to Section 529 Plans, and he'll be a

Internet Depression. The strengths that drive the New Economy, from the
dominance of venture capital to the rapid pace of innovation to the
flexibility of the work force, will come back to haunt us when the downturn
begins. Mandel will join Chris Farrell on this edition of Sound Money to
talk about why he believes a severe downturn is imminent and how you can
judge when it's coming. He will also share some ideas on investors,
workers, and businesses can not only survive the bad times but also prosper
in the long recovery that will follow.
