"Day in the Work Life": Meter Maid

Lead Traffic Services Officer Gomez

Sometimes you can't find a spare quarter, but you park your car at an expired meter and just hope you'll avoid a run in with one of the most despised public servants: the parking enforcement officer. But on this week's installment of 'A Day In the Work Life'...our regular look at how folks trade time for money...we get the meter maid's side of the story.

There are about 6,000 parking meters in Santa Monica. To keep an eye on 'em, officer Gomez maneuvers through traffic in an electric parking enforcement vehicle. (Claes Andreasson)
