Taking the trash challenge

Trash at L.A.'s Bradley Landfill

Marketplace's Tess Vigeland has volunteered to spend the next two weeks hauling her household trash around with her. She explains to Kai Ryssdal why she's so interested in this garbage.

An Apple Jacks box is among several items that could have been recycled by the consumer who threw them in the trash. (Tess Vigeland)
