Marketplace Confessional

"I was wondering if there is really going to be any positive change in this whole oil thing. I hear stories about billionaire oil tycoons investing in wind, electric cars, hybrid cars, electric cars, hydrogen cars, and electric cars. It doesn't change anything, however, because we are still darting around the issue. We were born with legs. Cities were born with easy access ON FOOT. Why oh why do we still believe that a different sort of car is going to make things better? How about the idea of wasting all of our money fixing the sins of our grandfathers and creating walkable cities here in the U.S.? . . . When are we going to bring some life into our cities like they are supposed to be -- vibrant and alive and full of PEDESTRIAN traffic doing what people do when they don't have to worry about where they are gonna park? . . . " "
