TEXT OF STORY
Scott Jagow: Finally, a personal note. Today is my last day hosting the Morning Report. But I won't be going far. I'll be taking on a new role at Marketplace, as the lead blogger for our Web site. And I'll be hosting our weekly podcast, After the Bell. In both roles, I'll be sharing perspectives on the economy and interacting with listeners.
I look forward to it and to working when the sun is out. I've thoroughly enjoyed the last three and a half years. And I hope you'll join me in the online world at marketplace.org.
In Los Angeles, I'm Scott Jagow. Thank you for listening, and I'll talk to you soon.

Ditto! You are missed, Scott! My morning routine feels a little bit off now that your familiar voice is not a part of it.
From Minneapolis, MN, 03/24/2009
The radio show is completely uninteresting since you left. I can't even bear to listen to it. You belong on the radio, not some online blog.
From Harrisburg, PA, 02/19/2009
Shucks, Scott. I wondered where you had gone. I won't be setting my alarm for 7:45 a.m. in future. I miss you, but wish you the best. CR
From Minneapolis, MN, 02/17/2009
I miss your voice.
From Upper Marlboro, MD, 02/13/2009
Scott,
Your absence on the show prompted me to search the site to find out what was going on. My ride to work will not be the same. I just have to to get used to "these other guys" which have been great too. So for the past week or so I've been saying where is Scott, and your online. So, I'll be sure to check the blog and podcast to get the same great info on the markets.
Good luck!
From Los Angeles, CA, 02/11/2009
Scott is now blogging as the online host for Marketplace. You can catch up with him here: http://www.publicradio.org/columns/marketplace/scratchpad/
From Charlotte, NC, 02/09/2009
Scott,
I've enjoyed your commentary on the MMR. Your sense of humor meshes great with your market reports. You will be missed!!! My morning drive will never be the same. I look forward to your new weekly reports.
From Ashburn, VA, 02/04/2009
Waking up in the morning just isn't going to be the same without your voice at 5:50 am. I will miss your humor on the Morning Report. I will look for you in your new role.
From Denver, CO, 02/03/2009
Scott, I am afraid that my morning drive will go back to the mundane. In my opinion your show was and will always be the best show that ever existed. You are responsible for my interest in the "Market Place". Please come back!!
From Ann Arbor, MI, 02/03/2009
Scott, I'm totally thrown for a loop. Seriously, I am having a hard time leaving at the correct time for work in the morning because I was almost totally dependent on your cues! I miss you already!
From Richmond, VA, 02/03/2009
Scott, I miss you already! I have been listening to you on Marketplace for the past three years and your reports quickly became part of my morning routine. I wish you luck with your new role but will continue to miss hearing your voice during my drive to work. Your replacement sure has some big shoes to fill!
From Osaka, 02/03/2009
Dear Scott:
There’s one here in Japan who miss you hosting the Marketplace Morning Report. I started listening to “Marketplace” on internet few years ago and have enjoyed the program recently on a portable device during my commute to work. I liked the way that you start a program with a very short sentence, briefing the news that you’re going to report, which makes me interested in the topics beforehand. I also liked the way you speak, which is clear and easy to listen for a listener like me who studies English as a second language. And, I should not forget your video clips from which I enjoyed exotic views of Egypt a lot.
I wish you a good luck in your new role.
From Ames, IA, 02/02/2009
Scott,
I often thought about you researching your commentary for the morning during the night. Then I wondered what you did during the day. I hope your new gig is as helpful to the rest of us as this past job was. It was a great way to start my day - hearing from somebody that was so down to earth about explaining the economy. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
From St. Charlles, MO, 02/02/2009
Dear Scott,
I thought you did a great job as the host of the Marketplace Morning Report program. I enjoy listening to it on KWMU during my morning commute in the metro St. Louis area. I was sorry to learn on Friday that it was your last day as host, and wish you all the best.
Regards,
Tim Rydel

Scott,
My wife and I are regular contributors to our local PBS station and avid listeners to your Marketplace Morning Report. We will miss your lively and cogent commentary very much. I hope that you stay involved in this type of endeavor. Thanks for your contribution to our lives.
From Ypsilanti, MI, 01/31/2009
Scott,
I wish you luck in your new position. I've really enjoyed your time as host of the Marketplace Morning Report--I listen every morning on my way to work--and hope your replacement will be at least half as good :) Thanks so much!
From Charlotte, NC, 01/31/2009
Scott,
It's great to see a "good guy" from Charlotte continue to advance his career, but it sure won't be the same in the morning without your educational and entertaining report. But we can all appreciate the need to "see the sun" in our career. Don't forget the sunblock before venturing out into the sunlight. Best wishes for continued success! You have an army of fans.
From Kansas City, MO, 01/31/2009
Scott,
It will not be the same without hearing you wonder how Alan comes of with his answers on Monday's, where the good market news is on Wed's and reviewing the week on Fri. When you end your show and Say Have a Great day, I enjoy that feel it gives me. Thanks so much. I wish your success with your new jobs, we all hope to hear you soon.
01/31/2009
Scott, My IT friends and I will miss you dearly but look forward to your blog. None of us are Financial experts but we work in the financial industry so everything we learn from the show helps us to better understand what is happening to our organization. Each morning we would all listen on our way in on WAMU in Washington, DC and then talk about what we heard on the morning report. Keep up the good work and we will be reading with the same enthusiasm that we listened with.
From Charlotte, NC, 01/30/2009
Scott, These comments. say it all--you will be missed. I look forward to getting into your blog. Waldo
From City of Alexandria, VA, 01/30/2009
I'll miss your voice in the morning! Nobody talks Wall Street and money like you - clear, concise, and most importantly funny. Congrats on your new role and enjoy seeing the sun more.
From Ellsworth, ME, 01/30/2009
I cannot start the day without a morning dosage of Marketplace. This is a painful parting. How will your loyal listeners weather the economic downtown without your humor and straightforward explanations? You have converted the unruly masses with little care for economic doublespeak into a better educated public. Anyway, thanks for the ride and job well done - you will be greatly missed.
From Kansas City, MO, 01/30/2009
Scott,
Thank you so much for keeping me company on my way to work for the past three years. Marketplace has become one of my favorite segments in the morning, mostly thanks to your wit and insightful comments. I will miss hearing your cheerful voice every morning, but I wish you so much luck in your new ventures!
From vancouver, bc, 01/30/2009
it's not going to be the same bus ride without you on my podcast.
From McLean, VA, 01/30/2009
When another well known public radio host departed under less pleasant circumstances a few years ago, Washington Post columnist David Broder sang his praises including lauding how much useful information that host could convey in so few words. Scott Jagow deserves the same praise.
From Ft. Lauderdale, FL, 01/30/2009
Scott:
I am so very sorry to have heard you say "goodbye" to your daily reporting for Marketplace morning report and in the evening show as well. I got very used to and reliant on your insightful presentation and analysis of what is going on with our economy. I run a small commercial real estate service company and I am obsessive about reading industry and business news media in an effort to formulate a picture of what actually is going on. Your reporting was something that I looked forward to because it always made me feel like I was at least getting somethign told to me straight.
You will be very missed. Best wishes for your new role at Marketplace.
Warm regards,
Ken
From McLean, VA, 01/30/2009
I am sad that you are not going to accompany me at both ends of my commute. Your commentary was just wonderful and your voice will be missed. Thank you for all the time you gave to your listeners.
From Port Hueneme, CA, 01/30/2009
Oh Scott! I was listening to you this morning and thinking how much I enjoy your segments on NPR - love your commentaries! Actually, you could comment on anything - your insight & humor make it all interesting & fun. I'm going to miss the sound of your voice... Best of luck in your new ventures - I'll keep following!

Aww, man! Scott, I enjoyed listening to you on MMR every morning. In fact, I wouldn't leave my car to head into work until I heard your "have a great day" sign-off each weekday morning. Best of luck in your future endeavors - I'll be sure to check out the blog and podcast.
From FL, 01/30/2009
You are going to be missed, Scott Jaigal. You and Kai are my favorites! I listen every morning and evening. I wish you the best with your blog. Take care!
From Lancaster, PA, 01/30/2009
It definitely won't be the same Marketplace Morning Report without you. I look forward to it every weekday. I'm sure you won't miss getting up super early. Good luck with your new endeavors.. make some cameos!
From Los Angeles, CA, 01/30/2009
It was the best part of my morning commute...will they still play music at the beginning, letting me know instantly how the market is? This is my first time at marketplace.org--you forced my hand. I'll be here to stay! I look forward to your future blogging and podcasting...
From CA, 01/30/2009
I for one will sorely miss you. I was shocked to hear your announcement. I feel like I've lost my ride share partner to work in the morning. Your successor has a hard act to follow.
From Dayton, OH, 01/30/2009
I will miss your morning reports. I too loved the music snippets you had after a story. I was just telling my friends to listen to you because I enjoyed your show so much.
From Corona, CA, 01/30/2009
Hey Scott! I am one of your younger listeners... I listen to you every morning. I have learned so much about our economy by listening to your morning report. When I heard that today would be your last day, I felt sad, but I am happy that you are moving on to bigger and better things.
I would most def. download your podcast!~
oh yeah, Buffalo Wings from Buffalo are the BEST!!!
:)
From Old Chatham, NY, 01/30/2009
Say it isn't so. I wept huge tears. Scott Jagow in the morning is my rush. My commute will never be the same.
From Portland, ME, 01/30/2009
This 10 minute segment of economic news is my favorite part of my morning commute and I am very sad that Scott is leaving! He is entertaining, witty and does an excellent job with every interview and story. Good luck with the Blog & Podcasts, Scott. You will be missed during my morning drive to work!
01/30/2009
You'll be missed, Scott. Your radio spot was the best 10 minutes of my morning. Enjoyed every one. It was your delivery and choice of topics that made it so good.
From Houston, TX, 01/30/2009
I am soooo sad! I love your reports! Your voice, your delivery, the snippets of music your choose to go with the stories are very enjoyable. I don't usually pay too much attention to financial news and I know so much more because of you. I am happy for you that you can sleep in and "Here Comes The Sun" is my absolute favorite Beatles song. Good luck and I will seek you out online.
From Salt Lake City, UT, 01/30/2009
NOO!! I was so bummed to hear you were leaving. I get ready for work in the dark early morning hours and I always enjoyed your voice - and actually even payed attention to a little bit of money news. Your chipper, friendly attitude will certainly be missed.
I've done AM radio before, so I get the refreshing concept of rising WITH the sun :)
Best of luck in your new endeavor.
From La Habra, CA, 01/30/2009
Scott, my whole morning hinged around your report: I always made sure I was in the car and not pumping gas when you reported. You're great, period. I have a suspicion that the change was made to reflect a more somber tone, which your buoyant voice may not be the right fit for. Glad you're still around though.
From Hubbard, IA, 01/30/2009
Scott, I will miss your voice each morning. You make the market news bearable. Best of luck to you in your new role. Come back as a guest commentator when you can. We'd all be glad to hear you again!
From Austin, TX, 01/30/2009
Scott, You were great! The mornings won't be the same without hearing your voice. Enjoy the sunshine!
From Lafayette, CO, 01/30/2009
Scott. I have always enjoyed your morning program. I try to listen every morning and if I miss it I download the podcasts. Good luck in your new role.
From Springfield, VA, 01/30/2009
Scott, I'll miss you in the mornings and will be sure to read your blog! I've appreciated your program; how it's put sometimes complicated issues into "layman's terms" for all of us non-economists out there. It's required listening in the morning for me. In fact, I work my schedule around it so I'm sure to be in the car at 7:50am.
Good luck with the blog!
