Enterprise Rent-A-Car Chairman and CEO Andrew Taylor

Andrew Taylor started work at his father's St. Louis-based rental car company, then called Executive Leasing Company, when he was 16 years old washing cars during summer vacation. After graduating from University of Denver with a business degree, Taylor worked at a Ford Motor affiliate in San Francisco leasing cars for three years. By the time he returned to the family business, Enterprise—which changed its name in 1969—had carved a niche in the "off-airport" rental market and launched its trademark pick-up and drop-off service.

In 1976, Taylor took control of St. Louis regional operations as general manager, and he was named president and chief operating officer 14 years later. Under his leadership, the company's fleet increased from 5,000 cars to more than 850,000. In 1991, Taylor took over from his father, Jack, as chief executive officer. Ten years later, he was named chairman.

Today, Enterprise Rent-A-Car is the largest rental car company in North America. This year, the company acquired the Alamo and National car rental brands. According to Taylor, the company's rapid growth hasn't affected its core philosophy: customer satisfaction first, employee satisfaction second, and bottom line last.

Taylor is very active in his community. He's served as trustee for various organizations, including the St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, Washington University, the Naval Aviation History Foundation, and the Missouri Botanical Garden.

He lives in St. Louis with his wife Barbara.
