The cellphone industry wants ... your child.

Listen to this commentary

A publication called PC World today reports on a cell phone that doubles as a camcorder. True, there are already cell phones that can record video. The innovation here, if you want to call it 'innovation' is that the phone looks like a video camera. With a big viewfinder and a large lens. The telephone keypad is hidden. $600. This may sound like a horribly expensive toy. Parents know that with text messaging and color displays, the 'cellphone as toy' is not too far off the mark. Commentator and psychologist Susan Linn says advertisers know it, too. (Photo: ©Getty Images)
