24 airlines signed agreements yesterday with the Environmental Protection Agency to keep a closer eye on the drinking water they're serving in planes. An EPA investigation last year found fecal bacteria in fifteen percent of the water it tested in airplanes. The bacteria itself isn't dangerous to people, though it is a sign that other there could be other organisms that cause disease in the water. Under the agreement, the airlines are subject to a $27,500 fine per infraction.
