In this show. . .

American workers are most productive

A new UN report shows that U.S. workers produce more output on average than those in any other country. Don't get too excited though; we also work more hours than almost everyone. Stephen Beard has more details.

Singing for their tips

Cold Stone Creamery continues to give Baskin-Robbins a run for its money, more likely because of the toppings smooshed into your ice cream on cold stones than their other gimmick. Sean Cole explains.

Will Congress bail out lenders? Borrowers?

Congress returns from recess this week. First up: what to do about the mortgage meltdown and ensuing credit market crisis. Some worry that lawmakers will be too generous with taxpayer money in the fix. Steve Tripoli reports.

Taming your office ego

Egonomics co-author Steve Smith tells us how to recognize when there's an ego problem at play -- and the dangers businesses face when they ignore those warning signs.

Demand for a holiday

"I disagree with Diana Nyad, who told Bob Moon today that Americans are not interested in Wimbledon because there are so few Americans playing. I love watching tennis, no matter who is playing. I have watched tennis for years, but the networks toy with us, creating drama rather than showing the match. Oftentimes, televised matches end precisely when the allotted time expires, even if they have to cut and splice. When they don't, as happened in a Nadal match last weekend, we were left hanging at the end of two sets, as NBC switched to women's golf. I don't have cable TV, so I couldn't switch to MSNBC as was suggested. It's enough to make me turn off the TV and read about the matches online."
